In what may the first-of a-kind activity where the use of satellite-based communications in tandem with ground-based mobile device reporting of mock Avian Influenza outbreak, the CISCAI Project set a landmark simulation table-top exercise in Phu Ninh, Soc Son District, Hanoi Vietnam last 16 April 2010.

Members of field test team, included staff from Department of Animal Health (DAH) and National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) with the valuable and excellent technical support from the NetNam Corporation and Information Center of Natural Resource and Environment (CIREN) - Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the local health and agricultural officers of Phu Ninh, Soc Son District.

As part of its  2010 outreach activities,  CISCAI  will hold the “1st INCITE-AI Summit - First Summit on  INformation & Communication Technology-Enabled Resources  for the Control of Avian Influenza”  at the  Inna Kuta Beach Hotel in  Bali, Indonesia from  7-9 June 2010  (NOTE:The 1st INCITE-AI Summit was  previously dubbed,  "First CISCAI Partners Meeting").

Since its inception, the CISCAI has initiated a number of activities to jumpstart the establishment of a   robust  Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure in Hanoi, Vietnam and Vientiane in Laos PDR to support the immediate monitoring and efficient management of  Avian Influenza (AI) outbreaks in these two pilot sites.
