Pursuant to  Chapter IV, Rule 6 and Attachment VII of the ASEAN Foundation’s – Financial Rules and Procedures Manual, the Communication and Information Systems for the Control of Avian Influenza (CISCAI) instituted the use of the CISCAI  Electronic Procurement System  (CePS), among its  different project implementers, starting  August  2009.

The  CePS  was  developed in support to the ASEAN Foundation’s core  financial management processes.  It is also envisaged  that the CePS  will be able to enhance  the over-all  bidding  processes within the tenure  of the CISCAI project, by providing the   proper and secure venue  for all eligible service and product providers to participate.

As of 31 of July 2009, 168 countries and overseas territories/communities have reported at least one laboratory confirmed case of pandemic (H1N1) 09. All continents are affected by the pandemic.

WHO CONFIRMS 816 A/H1N1 INFLUENZA DEATHS WORLDWIDE PDF Print E-mail

GENEVA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The A/H1N1 influenza has caused a total of 816 deaths worldwide as the virus continues to spread, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday.

Of all the deaths, 707 occurred in the Americas, 44 occurred in South-East Asia, 34 in Europe, 30 in the Western Pacific region and one in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the UN agency said in a latest update of the pandemic situation.

In addition, more than 20 countries and territories have reported their first confirmed case(s) of the H1N1 influenza since the last update of information was released on July 6.

Those countries and territories include Afghanistan, Andorra, Belize, Bhutan, Botswana, Haiti, Namibia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Solomon Islands.
