A CISCAI Multi-Partners Coordinative Meeting was held from 21-22 January 2010 at the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) - Payathai Compound, Bangkok, Thailand.
The two-day CISCAI Meeting had the following objectives:
- To discuss with partners and determine the final and doable network configuration of CISCAI-Vietnam in view of the legal and technical impediments posed by the use of Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WIMAX) and IPSTAR satellite in Vietnam; - To determine and agree on the most systematic way for technology transfer and localization of the developed GIS platform (server and mobile components) from the CISCAI-Vietnam to the CISCAI-Laos counterparts; and - To determine and harmonize/synchronize the schedules for the actual conduct of the series of table-top exercises.
The Meeting was attended by key CISCAI country coordinators namely, Mr. Valaxay Dalaloy, Deputy Director of the Laos Information Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Mr. Vu The Binh, Deputy Director of Vietnams NetNam Corporation, (host) Dr. Kitti Wongthvarawat and Mr. Nuttaphong Sanglerdsinlapaohai of Thailands National Security Technology and Innovation Laboratory, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center NECTEC), together with the whole PCU team, Dr. Jose Edgardo Aban, Mr. Bambang Wijayanto, and Ms. Piranti Savitri.
The Meeting was able to resolve key issues among which were the WIMAX acquisitions by Vietnam, some issues on technology localization (i.e. conversion from Vietnamese language to Laos language/characters), and the schedules for the conduct of the simulation/table-top exercises, which should happen some time in March 2010. Said table-top exercises are crucial and seek to determine the over-all behavior of the CISCAI developed system, in terms of the network activity and rates of data transfer from one stakeholder to another.
The get-together of core CISCAI partners was timely as it was held just before the CISCAI Team embarked for Mae Hong Son, Thailand to conduct the 2nd CISCAI WIMAX Engineering Workshop, from 25-29 February 2010.
