The CISCAI project launches its maiden LIVE VIDEO STREAMING TECHNOLOGY, in time for the First CISCAI WIMAX Engineering Workshop, happening from 16-20 March 2009 in Bangkok, Thailand. The CISCAI WIMAX Workshop is organized in cooperation with the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) of Thailand.
The video streaming technology has been designed to be viewed even by computer networks that are located behind network firewalls ( a firewall is an integrated collection of security measures designed to prevent unauthorized electronic access to a networked computer system). "The (streaming) system does not require a public IP address to perform streaming server capability", says Mr. Bambang Wijayanto, CISCAI System Administrator, who developed and integrated the system in-house.
The system uses binary streaming transfer to transport video packets from Bangkok, Thailand, to the CISCAI server located in Jakarta, Indonesia (which acts as some kind of a reflector) and which subsequently re-broadcasts the video feed via the CISCAI website to the rest of the world via the Internet. The system hopes to overcome the problem of low bandwidth requirement for video to be viewed effectively and efficiently.
This is a TRIAL TEST, and some delay in video packet delivery during the streaming process may be expected. If proven successful and effective, the system will be adopted in future CISCAI events.
