The ASEAN Foundation through Communication & Information Systems for the Control of the Avian Influenza (CISCAI) in collaboration with the Avian Influenza Prevention Team (Tim Penanggulangan Flu Burung / TPFB) of Muhammadiyah (*) conducted a series of user training workshops on the Technologies Transfer on Strengthening the Avian Influenza Participatory Reporting and Surveillance Systems.
The information systems which have been developed and localized for Indonesia consist of: 1) Integrated Web Geographies Information Systems (GIS) 2) Volunteer Management Systems 3) Short Message Service (SMS) Communication Systems. It is using CISCAI open source technologies and is localized to the local language (Javanese & Indonesian) and adapts the on-going AI reporting procedures & mechanisms in Indonesia. The ability to localized to the local dialect and language is one of the key uniqueness of the CISCAI developed systems which it will remove the language barrier in the grass root and will improve the penetration and usage of the systems.

A CISCAI technology -transfer and localization workshop was held from 19-20 October 2010 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The training workshop was conducted in support to an on-going collaborative effort between Team Penanggulangan Flu Burung (TPFB) Muhammadiyah and CISCAI.
In the effort of disseminating the information of CISCAI Project in Indonesia, CISCAI together with initiated collaboration on piloting the CISCAI developed technologies in Bantul District of Jogjakarta Indonesia. Besides of the technology development, CISCAI project was also committed to improve the human resource capability of its key partners in VietNam and Laos as well as in Indonesia by conducting a “Technology Transfer & Localization Workshop”. In Indonesia it was held from 19 – 20 November 2010 in Jogjakarta Indonesia.

The CISCAI (Communication and Information Systems for the Control of Avian Influenza) Project Coordination Unit of the ASEAN Foundation assisted by CISCAI Viet Nam conducted the Second Tabletop Simulation Exercises from 28 to 29 September 2010 in Hoa Binh Province, Viet Nam, involving teams from the NetNam Corporation, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC)-Thailand, Information Center of Natural Resource and Environment (CIREN)-Viet Nam, NIHE, DAH, Indochina Telecoms Incorporated and the CISCAI-Project Coordination Unit. The Hoa Binh Agricultural Provincial Office and the Cao Phong District Agricultural Office also assisted the project team.

 As part of its 2010 outreach activities, CISCAI will hold the 1st INCITE-AI Summit - First Summit on INformation & Communication Technology-Enabled Resources for the Control of Avian Influenza at the Inna Kuta Beach Hotel in Bali, Indonesia from 7-9 June 2010 (NOTE:The 1st INCITE-AI Summit was previously dubbed, "First CISCAI Partners Meeting").
Since its inception, the CISCAI has initiated a number of activities to jumpstart the establishment of a robust Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure in Hanoi, Vietnam and Vientiane in Laos PDR to support the immediate monitoring and efficient management of Avian Influenza (AI) outbreaks in these two pilot sites.
