The Mini Workshop in the Art of Information and Communication Technology for Indonesia which was held in 16 June 2009 give some precious input to CISCAI project in their SMS (Short Message Service) development.

During the workshop, the delegation from various agencies presented their reporting and monitoring system which mostly they employee the use of this cheap and effisien technology (SMS). However, as the leason learned from their experience are :

  • SMS Gateway is very expensive to deploy.
  • Limitation on the 160 Characters only.
  • Cost some money, especially for the voulentier / field agent.
  • The usage of complex keyword.
  • Sometimes the message is missing especially in a peak / bussy season.

The solution that came up in the workshop as Mr. Bambang Wijayanto (CISCAI Project System Administrator) proposed are :

  • The collaboration with the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) to lower the cost of deployment as well the SMS Cost.
  • Explore the possibilities of SMS marketing with point based system, so each agent / voulentier will get some feedback benefit.
  •  Implemented a scheme like Multi Level Marketing, which each agent registered only if they have recomendation from the upliners.
  • Use the Trivial System to eliminate the complex keyword.
  • Use the Java Application which can be transfer from upliners to downliners, as well as download from WAP Site or Web Site, and the usage of WAP Push application to send the application through the GPRS network.
  • The system should be used for greater usage not only for AI but for others EID.
  • Use special alogarithm to control the information given from the field.
  • Usea autoreply system to confirm the message received  by the Server as well as additional message for adv.

The CISCAI project currently developing the solution that can be integrated to Indonesian counterpart to enhance the monitoring and surveilence system for EID in Indonesia.
