CISCAI PARTICIPATES IN ASEAN-ADB HPAI TASKFORCE WORKSHOP PDF Print E-mail

The  resort sanctuary of Santika Hotel-Bali was center-stage for  the Inception Workshop of the ASEAN-ADB  Project on Strengthening Regional Coordination   in the Control and Eradication of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza  (HPAI) in ASEAN, which was held   from 3  to 5 March  2010.

The  Workshop was participated in by  around  40 delegates from various ASEAN Member States (AMSs) and dialogue  partners.  The two-man CISCAI-PCU team, headed by Dr. Jose Edgardo Aban, CISCAI Project Coordinator and Mr. Bambang Wijayanto, CISCAI Systems Administrator, participated in the  3-day meeting. This was the first time that the CISCAI-PCU had  formally touched base with the prominent group members of the ASEAN HPAI Taskforce.  A 15-minute presentation  on CISCAI was made by Dr. Aban on the second day  of the Workshop. Also, a CISCAI exhibit corner   was put on display for  the whole duration  of the  Workshop.

As the  outputs of   months’-long   efforts of technology development trickle in,  CISCAI and its in-country teams have recently initiated  information, education and communications (IEC) activities to effectively transfer  the various  developed technologies  among its stakeholders.  The first of such attempts  was   the conduct of the  “1st Training on the Use and Application of the CISCAI Geographic Information System  (GIS)”, held  at the headquarters of the  NetNam Corporation in Hanoi, Vietnam last 28 January 2010.

CISCAI PRESENTS AT THE 16TH APRSAF IN BANGKOK PDF Print E-mail

The CISCAI through the Project Coordinator, Dr. Jose Edgardo L. Aban, participated in the 16th Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF), last 27th January  2010 in Bangkok Thailand.

The CISCAI presentation was made in the morning of 27 January where a joint session of two working groups, the Earth Observation (EO) and Communications Satellite Applications (CSA) Working Groups was held. The CISCAI presentation highlighted on  the various accomplishments and activities (to date) of the project, as well as, the evolving/developing collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) through the Wideband InterNetworking Engineering Test and Demonstration Satellite (WINDS) initiative.

The CISCAI project is a project which heavy on the utilization of technology including satellite link, wiMAX, mobile technology, web technology, and GIS technology. In ASEAN countries the utilization of GIS to give an overview and easy to understand data to all the decision makers is so important. For example the Information System that can be able to display the location of the outbreak of Avian Influenza or any other emerging infectious disease. With this visual information will give all decision maker to be able to see clearly what is going on in the field, this methode is much more effective rather than seeing the tabular format.
