CISCAI INITIATES TALKS WITH ONE OF INDONESIA’S TELECOM GIANT PDF Print E-mail

The Project Coordinator of the CISCAI project of the ASEAN Foundation, Dr. Jose Edgardo L. Aban, met recently with Ms. Buske Loura Soetrisno, Head of  PT  Indosat’s Content Management Division, at the PT Indosat’s  Central Office in  Merdeka Barat, Gambir, Jakarta to discuss possible partnership and cooperation in  the use of mobile-based CISCAI-developed technologies  for early reporting of  and response to  Avian Influenza (AI)  in Indonesia. An initial area of possible cooperation being considered was  for PT Indosat to  provide the  network connectivity for field  agricultural and health workers involved  in AI reporting and response.

ASEAN FOUNDATION, NECTEC, ITRI & NETNAM COOPERATE ON ICT-ENABLED RESOURCES FOR AVIAN FLU SURVEILLANCE PDF Print E-mail

The ASEAN Foundation, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (Thailand), Information Technology Research Institute (Lao PDR), and NetNam Corporation (Vietnam) collaborated to hold the First Summit on Information and Communication Technology-Enabled Resources for the Control of Avian Influenza on 7-9 June 2010 in Bali, Indonesia. Attended by over forty delegates from ASEAN countries, the conference was formally opened by Dr. Filemon A. Uriarte, Jr. Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation, Prof. Tran Ba Thai, Director of NetNam Corporation of Vietnam, and Mr. Phonpasit Phissamay, Director-General of the Information Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Lao PDR.

As part of its 2010 outreach activities, CISCAI will hold the “1st INCITE-AI Summit - First Summit on INformation & Communication Technology-Enabled Resources for the Control of Avian Influenza” at the Inna Kuta Beach Hotel in Bali, Indonesia from 7-9 June 2010 (NOTE:The 1st INCITE-AI Summit was previously dubbed, "First CISCAI Partners Meeting").
Since its inception, the CISCAI has initiated a number of activities to jumpstart the establishment of a robust Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure in Hanoi, Vietnam and Vientiane in Laos PDR to support the immediate monitoring and efficient management of Avian Influenza (AI) outbreaks in these two pilot sites.
